Land ministry to provide digital services at doorstep


The Ministry of Land (MoL) has taken a set of measures to increase revenue and provide digital services at the doorstep of the people, an official said.
The ministry at a meeting in last month decided to provide a transparent and pro-people digital land services at the doorstep of the people at the earliest possible time.
"We have taken some decisions to increase revenue and provide faster digital services to the people," a joint secretary of the MoL who attended the meeting told the FE last week.
He said the MoL will roll out services to the people that include distribution of written form to the clients and this will provide basic/ primary information to the service seekers for applying electronic-land mutation purposes.
Besides, the ministry will take faster decisions on the applications on leasing of khas lands (government owned unused lands), land development taxes and other land related cases.
"We have taken a set of measures for providing better land related services to the clients at the shortest possible time and this will help us gear up our revenue," the ministry official said further.
He said the MoL will provide training to 1.6 million scouts of different educational institutions so that they can help build awareness of the land-owners about land related matters.
"Initially each scout will create awareness of two families about land related matters. The process will ultimately help 3.2 million families about land related services," he added.
Besides, there will be a system for providing online live answers to the clients about land related matters.
The land ministry official further said the government will observe land service week and land development tax fair in April in a befitting manner to earn more revenues.

He said service camps will be set up at all districts, upazilas, revenue circles, municipal and union parishad land offices to provide services and collect more taxes during the upcoming land service week.
Chairman of Land Reform Board, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers and assistant commissioners (land) will oversee the matters.
