Law adviser claims CG as national govt

Law and Information Adviser Mainul Hosein Monday billed the present caretaker government as a national government backed by the army that rescued the nation from an impending civil war, reports UNB.
During a meeting with editors of the electronic media at his office, he came up with this coinage of new terminology for the incumbent government that assumed office on January 12 under the current state of emergency declared amid a political turmoil over the issues of general election.
Reiterating that the present government would quit after transferring power to an elected government, the adviser struck a note of caution: "If our exit plan does not work, then other survival plans will not work too."
Mainul said there were political machinations behind the recent student agitation to put the army into a confrontational position with the people.
"This has been revealed and we've been able to thwart it," he told the media bosses, indicating that the plot has been unveiled.
The adviser said now it would not require suing so many people -- cases against a few would be enough.
Meanwhile, a number of cases have been filed against thousands of anonymous people in connection with the recent Dhaka University violence and backlashes in other universities and colleges.
"Our government is a national government, army-backed government," he told the meeting, adding: "We have saved the nation from a civil war. We've been able to establish discipline."
He said all would have to work together to achieve the ends in accordance with the election roadmap. "This is a roadmap for democracy."
