CHITTAGONG, Sept 12 (BSS): Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Saturday the law enforcers will stay alert to curb extortion on cattle transportation ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
The minister was speaking to journalists after addressing a rally of eminent citizens at Lohagara upazila of the district.
About militant activities, the minister asserted that the members of militant outfits are being arrested, new hideouts of the militants are beingunearthed and the government has been on highest alert so that the militant groups cannot hold their heads high.
Earlier, addressing the gathering the minister said Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking the country forward the country by winning the hearts of the country's people.
"Though many criticised earlier, now they keep mum," he said.
Referring to shortage of manpower, Kamal disclosed that 50 thousand police men would be appointed and from them additional police forces would be assigned in Chittagong.
Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin presided over the function while Dr Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nodovi, MP, Nazrul Islam, MP, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Police Superintendent Hafiz Akter, among others, addressed the function.
