Law in ACC's favour, says Mashhud

Anti-corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) Chairman Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury Sunday said there is nothing to be worried at the submission of a petition by Sheikh Hasina challenging the legality of a notice directing her to submit her wealth statement as the law is in the ACC's favour, reports UNB.
"There is nothing to be worried or to be excited…Everything will be done legally. I don't see anything to face since the law is in favour of the ACC," he told reporters in reaction to the writ petition.
He said, "Since the writ petition was filed, there will be hearing and the Commission may be asked to show cause. In this case, I don't see the ACC has any accountability (in this regard)... Had there been any, many could have filed cases."
Mashhud said the lawyers of the Commission have been briefed and they would look into the matter.
He said that if the Commission could reply properly they would get what they wanted.
Without mentioning Hasina's name, the ACC chairman questioned the intention of the Awami League chief saying what does it mean if any person delays in submitting the wealth statement.
Responding to a query, he said there is no reason to withdraw the notice served on Hasina seeking her wealth statement.
