A law to ban shutdowns will be made if the people want so, Law Minister Anisul Huq has said, reports bdnews24.com.
Speaking at an event by the Dhaka Reporters Unity Thursday, he said that laws were made on matters that concerned the public.
"If there's a demand raised by the people to ban shutdowns, then a law will be formulated.
"Whatever is going on now in the name of shutdowns is terrorism. There's the Terrorism Prevention Act to confront these, which will be now used," said Mr Huq.
He ruled out the possibility of talks with the BNP and its allies, branding them as 'terrorist outfits'.
"The Taliban had attacked a school in Pakistan. Now is a dialogue possible there with the attackers? If that can't be done there, then it's not possible to open talks with terrorist orgnasiations here."
The law minister said they were ready to open talks if it was for the country's development.
"What will be the agenda of the talks? We won't sit for that after they create instability. If someone wants to help for the country's development then we will definitely open talks," Huq said.
