The government will strongly handle any situation that can create threats to the people's life and property, said chairman of the ministerial committee on law and order Amir Hossain Amu, reports BSS.
"The government will tackle any lawlessness with strong hand," said Amu, also the industries minister, while briefing journalists after a meeting of ministerial committee at the home ministry here on Monday.
"If people are killed by hurling petrol bombs, panic is created and if a situation is created that can pose a threat to life and property in the name of political programmes for the release of convicted persons BNP Chief Khaleda Zia, Tareque Rahman or any other people, the government will take strong action against it," Amu added.
Replying to a question, he said the law enforcement agencies will take necessary steps to bring back other people who have been awarded punishment along with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
"It completely depends on the court whether the assets of other convicted persons of the "Zia Orphanage Trust Graft" case would be confiscated or not," he said.
Terming the present law and order situation good, Amu said criminal activities witnessed a fall in December, 2017.
