Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said on Sunday a level playing field will be created only for the persons of good manners, not for the people with criminal background ahead of the city corporation elections, reports BSS.
"It will not be possible to create a level playing field for the criminals as you are supporting people with criminal background," he said while addressing a discussion marking the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Chikitsak Parishad and Muktijoddha Chikitsok Council jointly organised the discussion at the National Press Club in the city.
"It is good that you (BNP) have decided to participate in the election. But, do not make any plot to foil the polls by creating anarchy in the name of election," Qamrul, also a joint general secretary of Dhaka City Awami League, said.
"You have to withdraw the nationwide transport strike to participate in the polls," he added.
President of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Chikitsak Parishad Dr Sirajul Islam presided over the discussion while Chairman of Muktijoddha Parishad Command Council Maj Gen (retd) Helal Morshed Khan, former lawmaker Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin and Health and Population Affairs Secretary of AL Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan, spoke on the occasion.
