Libel case against Fakhrul scrapped

A Dhaka court has scrapped a libel case against BNP's Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over a comment he made about an Awami League (AL) leader, reports bdnews24.com.

Judge Anwar Sadat of Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court dropped the case Wednesday after the complainant remained absent in five hearings , said defence lawyer Jainal Abedin Mesbah.

Mirza Fakhrul described former junior Law Minister Qamrul Islam as 'mentally sick' and 'crazy' at a discussion in the National Press Club in July, 2010.
