Ambassador Ahmed Ateya Hamd Al-Imam said his country has been recruiting thousands of workers per month from Bangladesh, number of which would increase in the future, reports UNB.
The Libyan envoy said this while meeting State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Hasan Mahmud in the Foreign Ministry Sunday afternoon.
Ambassador Iman told the State Minister that Libyan Embassy in Dhaka was issuing on an average 300 visas per day currently and the number would increase due to big demand of workers in the oil-rich country.
The envoy mentioned that Libya has been reconstructing itself and under the scheme, more than hundred billion dollar would be spent to reconstruct its bridges.
"Bangladesh and Libya signed an agreement on manpower in Dhaka last year. Under the agreement, we would take in huge number of workers by phases," he said. Dr Hasan Mahmud expressed his deep satisfaction over the progress in recruitment of manpower in Libya.
