Locals stage demo in Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ, Apr 5 (UNB): Angry locals staged demonstrations in Gazaria upazila on Friday demanding capital punishment of the killers of a local UP chairman and the withdrawal of the police super and the OC concerned.

Shamsuddin Pradhan, 65, chairman of Baluakandi union parishad and president of the union unit of Awami League, was stabbed to death during a clash between the supporters of AL-backed candidate Amirul Islam and AL rebel candidate Refayetullah Khan Tota at a polling station during the upazila polls in Gazaria on March 23.
