SYLHET, June 23: A court in Sylhet Tuesday again rejected the bail prayer of photojournalist Idris Ali, who had been in jail in the much-talked case for killing blogger Ananta Bijoy Das.

Metropolitan judicial magistrate of court-2, Farhana Yasmin, rejected the prayer of the lone arrestee and set July 20 as next date, court sources informed. Earlier the same court rejected the prayer on June 17.

The lawmen picked the photographer of Daily Sangbad and the Daily Sobuj Sylhet Idris Ali up from his house at Fotehgar in Sylhet sadar on June 7.

He was taken to Dhaka for quizzing by TFI cell in Dhaka same day, police informed.

After quizzing, Ali was produced before the judicial magistrate, who sent him back to the jail on June 15.

Ananta was chopped to death in broad daylight on May 12 at the city's Subidbazar area, when he was on way to his office at Pubali Bank Jawabazar branch in Sunamganj.

Seeing no progress, earlier on May 25 police headquarters ordered for shifting the case to the CID, the official added.
