Former Law Adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein Monday refuted ex-minister Anwar Hossain Manju's allegation that he (Manju) was convicted in a case due to his (Mainul's) influence while he was adviser of the caretaker government, reports UNB.
"Despite such statement being baseless and defamatory for me, I have refrained from making any protest due to family relation," Mainul said in a press statement.
He said it is known to all from newspaper reports the Anti-corruption Commission is conducting a number of cases against Manju.
He said Anwar Hossain Manju has not yet realised that their politics is no longer in vogue. Previously, it was easier for a minister or a political leader to file a false case against others. In those days, it was easier to grab the properties of others showing thumb to laws.
Mainul said Manju also issued "misleading" statements about the Daily Ittefaq. To keep the daily in one hand and run it on a partisan basis, there had been terrible incidents of terrorism, reports on which have been published in different dailies.
