Maldives for strengthening military ties with BD

Visiting Maldives National Defence Force Chief Major General Ahmed Shiyam hoped Sunday for continuing bilateral cooperation for strengthening relations further between the armed forces of Bangladesh and the Maldives, reports BSS.
General Shiyam expressed his willingness when he called on Bangladesh Navy Chief Vice Admiral M Farid Habib at the naval headquarters at Banani in the city.
On his arrival at the naval headquarters, senior officers of Bangladesh Navy welcomed him and presented a guard of honour.
The Maldives national defence force chief was accompanied by Maldives defence attaché to Bangladesh, Maldives National Defence Forces director and senior military officials.
Earlier, General Shiyam placed wreath at Shikha Anirban, showing respect to the memories of the martyrs of 1971 War of Liberation.
He made a courtesy call on President Md Abdul Hamid and visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi.
