Khelafat Majlis chief Mamunul Haque has called for a judicial inquiry into what he called "planned engineering" in last month's parliamentary polls, reports UNB.
Speaking at a regular meeting of the party's central executive council at its Purana Paltan office on Saturday, Mamunul said that emerging data and allegations suggest the electoral process was manipulated. "The information coming to light regarding the 13th general election proves it was a blueprint for election engineering," said Mamunul.
The Khelafat Majlis leader specifically pointed to recent media remarks attributed to Syeda Rizwana Hasan, a former advisor.
Her comments regarding the exclusion of certain Islamic parties from the "mainstream" serve as a confession of a pre-planned decision to influence the polls, he said.
