Man arrested with gold bars in Benapole

BENAPOLE, Sep 24 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected smuggler with 19 gold bars weighing approximately 4.6 kilograms at Amrakali check post in Benapole.

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Mahfuz Mollah, a resident of the Mangolpur village in the Lohagara area of Narail district.

The arrest occurred at around 11:00 am when the BGB personnel, acting on a tip-off, searched a passenger bus heading from Jashore to Benapole. Mahfuz was found hiding the gold bars, made of 24-carat gold, wrapped in a black cloth around his waist.
