Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna urged the government on Wednesday to immediately hold a national dialogue to resolve the ongoing political crisis, reports UNB.
"We request the government to sit in a national dialogue forthwith to overcome the current political crisis. If the government fails to do so, it'll remain liable to history for the consequences. The people of the country will never forgive them for their failure and putting the country in danger," he said.
Manna said this at a sit-in programme organised by Nagorik Chhatra Oikya, the student wing of Nagorik Oikya, in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
Criticising both Awami League (AL) and BNP, Manna said, "The country is burning now but no one is taking the responsibility for it. They're indulged in blaming each other."
He also alleged both BNP and AL are playing with the fate of 1.5 million SSC and equivalent candidates only for their greed for power and obstinate behaviour.
Manna urged both the parties to keep the SSC and equivalent examinees out of their conflict of perpetuating power.
The Nagorik Oikya convener also observed that people will remain in favour of any positive move by the government to stop the current violence and killings of innocent people in the name of movement.
While BNP is going for the path of violence and atrocities in the name of political programmes, the government is repressing BNP by snatching their political rights ensured by the constitution, he explained.
Nagorik Chhatra Oikya conveners Nazmul Hasan and Muhit Hasan Tarique were present, among others, at the programme.
