Solidarity processions were brought out by the general students in different educational institutions across the country on Monday extending their support to the American students who have been persecuted for demanding independent Palestine.

The largest solidarity procession was brought out on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.

The procession started from the historic Madhur Canteen of the university.

Holding the Palestine national flag, the students started the march which terminated in front of the Anti-Terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture.

Earlier on Sunday, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Saddam Hussain called for a solidarity procession across the country on the issue of independent Palestine at a press conference at Madhur Canteen.

In continuation of this, leaders and activists of Chhatra League from different public and private universities and colleges of Dhaka, including Dhaka University, converged on before the Raju Sculpture.

BCL President Saddam Hussain read out a memorandum titled 'Memorandum of Peace' at the rally.

"Our legacy is one of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to the principles of justice and equality," Saddam Hussain read.

"Just as our forefathers fought bravely for the liberation of our own land, so too do we stand with our Palestinian brothers and sisters in their struggle for freedom," he said.

The memorandum states, "We strongly condemn the forceful suppression of their rightful demand to divest from the apparatus of the genocidal regime."

The memorandum adds, "The forcible expulsion of their settlements, coupled with a despicable assault on students and educators by security forces, flagrantly undermines the fundamental democratic principles of freedom of expression and assembly that we cherish. Students of these campuses are demonstrating the rejuvenating power of courage. This rejuvenating power is undermining the decades-long suppression of the Palestinian dream."

The Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of BCL held a flag-raising and marching event on the day, advocating for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Commencing at 11am from the university's transport area, the procession passed through the Dairy Gate before concluding at the central playground.

Following the march, JU Chhatra League President Aktaruzzaman Sohel remarked, "What is happening to the people of Palestine today is similar to the incident in 1971 when Pakistani barbaric forces attacked unarmed Bengalis. The rally has extended solidarity not only to Palestine but to oppressed peoples globally."

He criticised superpower nations for perpetuating conflicts for personal gain, selling arms, and causing sufferings to the civilians.

JU BCL General Secretary Habibur Rahman Liton stated, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman advocated for an independent Palestinian State, a sentiment echoed by people's leader Sheikh Hasina also."

Approximately 300 Chhatra League activists attended the event hoisting the Palestine flag.

Their primary demand is the immediate cessation of brutality and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
