Measures to be taken to keep price of essentials tolerable during Ramadan

CHITTAGONG, Sept 09: The District Task Force Committee (DTFC) met Sunday at Chittagong Circuit House to discuss measures to keep the price of different essential items tolerable in the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Deputy Commissioner Ashraf Shamim presided over the meeting while Divisional commissioner Hossain Jamil, Alim of BDR, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, Khatunganj Trade and Industry General Secretary Syed Sagir Ahmad, and representatives of different organisations spoke on the occasion among others.
Speakers said, price of rice, pulse, chhola and Iftar items are likely to decline in the upcoming holy month. Besides that, necessary steps will be undertaken by the concerned authorities so that the genuine traders and hawkers can sell their essential items conveniently.
The administration assured genuine and honest businessmen of all sorts of cooperation in transacting their business in a hassle free atmosphere.
In view of different complaints and problems of the businessmen, Divisional Commissioner said, it had been decided to hold regular meetings between different traders association with the different Upazila Nirbahi Officers at the Upazila level. Necessary steps would be taken so that the price level could not rise during the holy month of Ramadan and proper monitoring and vigilance would be ensured.
The business leaders said, there were sufficient stock of rice, pulse, chhola. The price of these food items may therefore be reduced during the holy month.
