Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain has accused the opposition of launching a planned attack on trains with the aim of creating chaos in the country, resulting in casualties.
"There cannot be any motive other than creating anarchy behind the incident. This was done to encourage those who want to create chaos," he told journalists at his office Monday afternoon, reports UNB.
He said the opposition activists set fire to the train.
The minister said that as the train was heavy, it was not possible to stop instantly.
"The attack was carried out on a running train, and also it was not possible to stop it like a bus," he said.
He alleged the incident was staged to make the opposition leader's meeting successful.
The minister said the railway was a state property and any attack on it was a grievous offence.
