Ayesha Siddika Minni, widow of slain Barguna Internet service provider Rifat Sharif, on Tuesday filed an appeal with the High Court (HC) against a lower court order that sentenced her along with five other accused to death for killing Rifat, 25.
Minni's lawyer Advocate Makkiya Fatema Islam submitted the petition in the concerned section of the HC, six days after the Barguna District and Sessions Judges Court convicted the six for killing Rifat and handed down capital punishment to them.
The lawyer said that now they would pray for holding an early hearing on the plea and would seek bail for her client.
The death reference of the six convicts reached the HC from Barguna on Sunday to examine the trial court verdict.
Judge of Barguna District and Sessions Judges Court, Md Asaduzzaman, on Sept 30 this year handed down death sentence to Rifat's wife Minni and five others for killing Rifat Sharif, 25, in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College in the district town in June last year.
