Mintoo gets anticipatory bail in two cases

The High Court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail for six weeks to BNP vice-chairman and also former FBCCI President Abdul Awal Mintoo in two cases filed by the police with Sonagazi Police Station in Feni.

Mintoo has also been asked to surrender in the Sessions Judge's Court in Feni after six weeks.

The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Salim passed the order after hearing two separate bail petitions filed by Mintoo.

Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner, while Assistant Attorney General Mizanur Rahman represented the state.

The two cases were filed against 354 people, including BNP vice-chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, in connection with a clash on August 30 this year between BNP activists and police in Sonagazi upazila of Feni.
