A new witness in the trial of Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali Tuesday said Al-Badr cadres led by the accused had abducted his father for their camp in notorious Dalim Hotel during the War of Liberation, where he was subsequently killed, reports BSS.

"On a night in the month of November, 1971, Al-Badr cadres led by Mir Quasem abducted my father Ranjit Das from our home in Hazari Lane and took him to nearby Dalim Hotel. He was tortured to death there along with our neighbour Tuntu Sen," said Shibu Das quoting his mother.

Shibu (46), son of martyred Ranjit Das, testified as the fifth prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)- 2.

"My father used to run a teashop and was in business of trading in old bottles. I was only around three years old when my father was killed. I can't even recollect the face of my brother," Shibu, a grill workshop worker, said in a chocked voice.

The PW-5 said the Dalim Hotel was a den of Al-Badr during the war. Many innocent people were tortured and killed there. Al-Badr cadres from that camp used to loot the belongings of the members of Hindu community and set their houses on fire. Many Hindus were forced to take refuge in neighboring India.
