September 19, 2008 00:00:00

Former lawmaker and Jubo League leader Mirza Azam was rearrested minutes after he was released on bail from Dhaka Central Jail Thursday, reports UNB.
He was later sent to jail again.
DIG (Prisons) Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told the news agency that they freed Mirza Azam from the central jail at about 3.00 pm, as he secured bail from the High Court (HC).
But he would not make any comment over the re-arrest of Azam, saying that he was not the right person for that.
Paltan Police Station sources said they arrested Azam from the jail gate at about 3:05pm under Section 16(2) of the Emergency Power Rules 2007.
Azam, general secretary of the Awami League's youth front, was taken to CMM court from where he was sent to jail again.
Earlier on July 16 this year, Azam, involved in a corruption case filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC), had surrendered to the court.
