Miscreants sever AL man’s tendons

JHENIDAH, Feb 24: Miscreants cut off the tendons of the hands and legs of a Awami League (AL) activist at Barobazar union under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah Sunday afternoon.
He was identified as Iqbal Hossain (36), son of Isadi Mondol of Pirojpur village and bodyguard of ex Barobazar UP chairman Joynal Abedin belonging to ex-MP Abdul Mannan. Iqbal is an accused of Barobazar's AL leader Abdur Rouf's murder case.
Sources said aa group of unidentified miscreants picked Iqbal up from his village at around 4 pm and severed his tendons and cut one of his wrists off.  Later, they left him in a critical condition in the field of the village.
Locals apprehended that members of his opposite faction might have done the misdeed.
