RANGPUR, Apr 11 (BSS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Jabed Patwary said on Wednesday militancy was imported to the country to destroy the development achieved by the government.
"But, we won't fall back and will bring the militancy under control," the IGP said.
The police chief made the comments while addressing a discussion on 'Militancy and Drug Prevention Affairs Rally' as the chief guest on Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) campus.
Vice chancellor of BRUR Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah presided over the discussion while Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Khandker Golam Faruque addressed the discussion as the special guest.
Terming drug and militancy as the main obstruction to the development of the country, the IGP said militancy has become a major problem across the world.
He said, "The students are the main target of drug and militancy. So, you (students) should be aware of drug abuse and militancy."
"The innocent students fall victim to militancy through misinterpretation of Islam to them. So you (students) have to be aware of choosing friends with consciousness," the IGP observed.
