Mobile court drive soon to ensure safe food: Quamrul

Food Minister Quamrul Islam said on Tuesday the government will soon launch mobile court drives to ensure safe food for all, reports UNB.

The Home Ministry will issue a notification in this regard within a couple of days, he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat at his office.

Quamrul said the mobile court drive will be conducted as per the Safe Food Act-2013.

Noting that there is a 'Pure Food Court' in each district across the country, he said the court will be renamed as 'Safe Food Court' as per the new food act. "A notification has already been issued in this regard."

The minister also said the US envoy has expressed her satisfaction over the Safe Food Act.

Quamrul said the USAID wants to work and cooperate with Bangladesh regarding food safety.
