Prime Minister's Health Adviser Syed Modasser Ali has claimed that under the parliamentary system advising the opposition is also his responsibility, reports bdnews24.com. Speaking at a workshop at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday, Modasser said, "As I am the government's adviser, I am everyone's adviser." He asked the opposition to shun the path of violence. "The government will be watching the opposition's road march programmes to ensure that they are not hampered. However, if they resort to vandalism, the government will take steps as the government is responsible to provide security to the people," the advisor said. Modasser trashed any chance of reinstating the caretaker government system and said, "No matter how much water is being put, a dead tree does not return to life." He went on to say that the government would work sincerely to ensure free and fair national polls and said that the election commission would have to be strengthened. The advisor also rejected possibilities of a meeting beyween Sheikh Hasina, and opposition leader, Khaleda Zia, sitting across the table to address their differences.
