November 02, 2009 00:00:00

Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, counsel for convict AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed (lancer), pleaded Sunday for further enquiry into the Bangabandhu Murder Case as well as re-trial under the Army Act.
The counsel made the appeal while submitting his argument in the appeal hearing against the verdict of the High Court Division, reports BSS.
"Three army personnel-Colonel Jamil, Captain Sheikh Jamal and Sepoy Md Younus-and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were assassinated in the incident on August 15, 1975. The persons involved in the events should be tried under Army Act," he argued.
He added that those who were involved in the killing of civilians at Bangabandhu Bhaban could be tried under the Penal Code.
As Barrister Mamun's three days of argument for AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed ended, Khan Saifur Rahman, counsel for Syed Faruq Rahman and Mohiuddin Ahmed (Artillery), started replying to the earlier queries of the court.
He will complete his submission tomorrow (Monday). The hearing will resume tomorrow at 9:30am.
