LALMONIRHAT, Nov 28 (UNB): A mortar shell was found in an agricultural field in Hati Bandha upazila, Lalmonirhat, on Friday morning.
Workers uncovered the object while excavating soil in the middle of Goddimari Adarsha village in Goddimari Union.
Local resident Md. Abul Hossain (63) was leveling his farmland using an excavator around 10:30 am. when the iron object, buried about three feet underground, was spotted.
The object, resembling a mortar shell or cannonball, caused panic among villagers. It is estimated to weigh three to four kilograms, with a length of 15 inches, a thickness of 10 inches, and a diameter of 2.5 inches. The marking 'MK 17' was visible on its surface.
