Lawyers of Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, mother-in-law of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, challenged on Wednesday the Anti-corruption Commission's (ACC's) decision on filing case against her for allegedly amassing wealth illegally.
Terming the decision illegal, the lawyers submitted an application to the ACC chairman M Badiuzzman to issue a fresh notice for submission of her wealth statement.
The lawyers were BNP's human rights affairs secretary Nasiruddin Asim and executive committee member Advocate Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan.
After submission of the application, lawyer Asim told reporters that his client would comply with the commission if they reinvestigate the matter.
However, the ACC commissioner M Shahabuddin said that the commission would file case against Ms Banu as per the commission law.
'If they have any objection they are at liberty to express their position to the court,' he told reporters at his office.
On Tuesday, the commission decided to file a case against Ms Banu for not submitting her wealth statement. The ACC had earlier asked Ms Banu to submit her wealth statement.
