A senior BNP leader demands that the finance, commerce and home ministers resign after admitting their failures, reports bdnews24.com. Party standing committee member and former law minister Moudud Ahmed Tuesday also urged the government to take the path of negotiations instead of oppressing opposition activists. He was speaking at a discussion held at the National Press Club arranged marking the 32nd founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal (fishermen wing). Claiming that the Grand Alliance government had failed to meet people's fundamental needs, he said: "The prices of essentials have not come down; rather contradictory speeches by the commerce minister have led to the price hike." He also said the law and order in the country had deteriorated. "Besides, pro-government activists have looted Tk 850 billion from the stock market. Even the finance minister admitted his faults. "They should step down admitting their failures," Moudud said. Regarding the cases against opposition leaders and activists, he said: "The government has set a record by filing cases against the opposition." He claimed that it was trying to weaken the BNP. "But you cannot succeed. People in the local polls have shown that."
