CHITTAGONG, May 17: Hefajat-e-Islam leaders here Saturday condemned the government move to regulate the country’s Hafezi madrasahs.

In a statement, they also demanded the removal of the director general of the Islamic Foundation for his purported involvement in the move to regulate Hafezi madrashahs, according to a news agency.

By preparing the ‘Tahfizul Qur’an’ curricula for the madrasahs, the Islamic Foundation DG has served the interest of anti-Islamic forces, and it is also aimed at creating a conflict between the government and the Islamic scholars, the statement added.

The signatories to statement include Shah Mohibullah Babunagari, Hafez Shamsul Alam and Noor Hossain Quasemi.
