FE REPORT | March 10, 2024 00:00:00

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) vowed on Saturday to continue its movement until the government is dethroned for establishing people's voting rights and restoring democracy in the country.

"We want to say that democratic movement never gets failed. It may be disrupted for the time being. But it never becomes futile. Either today or tomorrow this fascist Awami League government will be unseated by the people. Our movement will continue until their (government) fall," BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said while addressing a rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

"We will continue our peaceful and democratic movement against the government for restoring democracy and freedom of speech and voting rights," he said.

BNP's Dhaka south city unit organised the event as part of the party's mass contact and leaflet distribution programme in protest against the rising prices of essential commodities and hiking power and gas tariffs.

After the rally, he along with other party leaders and activists distributed leaflets among pedestrians in Nayapaltan area.
