Calling upon the prime minister (PM) to quit forthwith, BNP warned on Monday that the government's dream of perpetuating its power by force would be shattered soon in the face of the ongoing mass movement, reports UNB.

In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said, "The current illegal government must shoulder the full responsibility for the evolving situation caused by the political crisis."

The BNP leader came down hard on PM Sheikh Hasina for what he said describing the current political crisis which had been created by her as a law-and-order problem.

"She (Hasina) often says she'll do whatever necessary for ensuring public security. The entire nation wants resignation of you and your government. The nation thinks the public safety will be ensured if you quit," he added.

Salahuddin renewed his party's allegation that the government wants to foil the opposition's movement by maligning it through implementing their sabotage conspiracies, including carrying out petrol bomb attacks.

He claimed that a large number of petrol bombs were recovered from an office of the ruling party's youth wing Jubo League in the Chittagong's Agrabad area.
