Seemingly changing his tone, acting general secretary of Awami League Mukul Bose Saturday said the AL cannot be reformed without party president Sheikh Hasina, who is in jail, reports UNB.
" I've said in the past, I am saying now and will say in future that it is not possible to bring about reform in Awami League without Sheikh Hasina," he told reporters.
Mukul Bose, known as a reformist in the Awami League in the changed time, faced wrath of party workers outside party's Dhanmondi office last Wednesday.
In reply to a question, he said after receiving letter from the Election Commission, the Awami League working committee would decide about joining dialogue with the Commission on electoral reforms.
"The working committee will take the decision whether or not we will sit with the EC, what would be the composition of party delegation and the agenda of our discussion," he said.
Meanwhile, party presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury said that they would continue legal fight to release Sheikh Hasina. She termed the cases filed against Hasina "false" and "politically motivated".
