Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Monday said stern actions will be taken against those involved in Sunday's violence at Rajshahi University (RU), reports UNB.
''Those involved in the violence won't be spared…stern actions will be taken as per the recommendation of the probe committee," he told reporters at his ministry.
The Education Minister mentioned that the university authorities have formed a probe committee to identify the people involved in the violence and the committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 days.
Nahid said the law enforces have also been asked to take necessary steps.
When asked about BCL men's involvement in the campus violence, the minister denied to make any comment. "I've talked to the vice chancellor (VC) and the teachers and asked them to identify the culprits to take action against them."
Nahid said he heard that Shibir men took part in the clash.
He said the government has solved problems in different universities, including Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Islamic University.
Authorities Sunday declared RU closed for an indefinite period and all residential students have been asked to vacate their dormitories by 8.00 am Monday following campus violence that left 85 students injured.
JCD protests BCL attack
Meanwhile, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists brought out a procession on the Dhaka University (DU) campus Monday protesting the attack on RU students by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men.
The procession was taken out from in front of Shamsunnahar Hall which was also demanded unconditional release of JCD president Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Juwel.
The procession ended at the Central Shaheed Minar after parading the DU campus.
BCL forms 5-member body
BSS adds: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Monday formed a five-member probe committee to investigate into the untoward incident in RU campus.
The five-member probe committee headed by Vice President of BCL Joydeb Nandi and composed with vice presidents Shahinur Rashdi Sohel and Ziaul Haque Zia, joint secretary Mostafizur Rahman and office secretary Sheikh Russel.
The BCL central committee held an urgent meeting and formed the committee.
The committee was also asked to submit their investigation report to the BCL president and general secretary in five days.
