Awami League (AL) presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim categorically said the BNP-Jamaat axis has been doing politics in the country as masked evil forces at present, reports BSS.
He further said the BNP-Jamaat has betrayed the people. The AL workers have to be united to face them politically.
Mr Nasim was addressing the opening session of triennial council of Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Awami League at the Rajshahi Medical College auditorium in Rajshahi as the chief guest Saturday.
Referring to the current election demand of BNP-Jamaat Muhammad Nasim said no election will be held before a single day of 2019. Khaleda Zia has missed the train of January 5 election. Now, there is no scope of holding any national election, he added.
With city unit president Prof Bazlur Rahman in the chair, AL Joint Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, International Affairs Secretary Faruk Khan and Organising Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud also spoke, among others.
Muhammad Nasim said the BNP-Jamaat will be defeated politically. Before the January 5 election, many proposals for talks were given to Begum Zia but she did not respond. At present, there is no scope of any discussion or dialogue relating to election.
Referring to Latif Siddique, Nasim said he was sacked from the cabinet and has been expelled from the AL as well.
Another report adds: Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said Saturday BNP can do nothing by giving threat for launching movement and under any circumstances, they will not be spared if they indulge in violence like that in 2013.
"We will listen to the broken records of appeal for talks and movement for the next four years and one month. We have heard the same between 2009 and 2013. By listening to the broken records our five-year tenure will expire. BNP can't launch any movement," he said.
Quamrul Islam, also joint general secretary of Dhaka City Awami League (AL), said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
