CHITTAGONG, May 10: The newly-elected Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has sought cooperation of outgoing mayor M Manjur Alam to turn the city into a mega city.
AJM Nasir Uddin called on the former mayor at the latter's residence at Kattali in the city on Sunday morning and had a meeting for about 45 minutes seeking his cooperation in running development activities of CCC.
AJM Nasir is now meeting people of different localities, exchanging views with them and learning about problems of their wards.
He said, "I am making contacts with the people, so that through discussion problems can be identified and to that end proper steps should be taken to solve the problems."
He further said he would not allow the party workers to meddle in matters of the city corporation.
Any kind of corruption will not be tolerated in the CCC, he added.
The outgoing mayor M Manjurul Alam said he would extend his all-out support to the new mayor as he has experience of 22 years of working in the CCC. MA Latif MP was also present at that time.
