Nation can't be united 'unless killers of Bangabandhu,4 leaders punished'

Awami League Acting General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam Friday said the Bangali nation cannot be united as long as the court verdicts against killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders will not be implemented, reports UNB.
"Jail killing was a cruel episode. After planned assassination of Bangabandhu, four national leaders were brutally killed under a well thought-out plan," he said.
Syed Ashraf, son of Syed Nazrul Islam, acting President of the Bangladesh government in exile in 1971, made the remarks to reporters at his NAM apartment.
"Being a son, as much as I am pained, I am more proud of our leaders' sacrifice. Through their deaths, they proved they are not betrayers. They didn't betray with the Bangali nation," said an emotion-choked Ashraf.
He said the nation cannot get united, cannot remove the stigma until the court verdicts in the Bangabandhu Murder Case and the Jail Killing Case are implemented.
Syed Ashraf urged the government to take effective steps to implement the court verdicts against the killers.
