Speakers at a round table discussion in the city on Saturday said Bangladesh has rejected politics against spirit of War of Liberation in the recently held 11th parliamentary election, reports BSS.
"Bangladesh has passed an acid test by defeating all the anti-state conspiracies. The country has rejected the politics of those who disapprove War of Liberation and do politics against it," said Major General (retd) AK Mohammad Ali Shikder.
He came up with the observations while addressing the discussion organised by Sampriti Bangladesh at the capital's CIRDAP Auditorium, with convener of the organisation and noted cultural activist Pijush Bandyopadhaya presiding the programme.
"The list of candidates for the election made by BNP was actually prepared by Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and was approved from London. There is no scope of self-complacency by this huge win by the Awami League as the local and foreign conspirators can carry out attack any moment," Shikder added.
Former VP of Dhaka University Central Students Union Professor Mahfuza Khanam emphasised implementing the polling manifesto of Awami League, saying, "There should be monitoring teams for all the matters and check out list should be made. Awami League should fix what it would do in the first ifty days and what will be done in the first 100 days."
Pijush Bandyopadhaya said people wanted the militant and communal forces to be defeated by the people who believe in the spirit of War of Liberation, adding, "We were able to do that."
