Nazrul\\\'s wife files no confidence petition

0NARAYANGANJ, May 11 (UNB): Selina Islam Beauty, the widow of slain Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, filed a naraji (no-confidence) petition with a court on Monday against the charge sheet in a case filed in connection with the sensational seven murders that showed 35 accused.

Selina Islam filed the naraji petition expressing her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the names of five FIR-enlisted accused from the charge sheet, said her lawyer Sakhawat Hossain.

Accepting the petition, Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafiqul Islam fixed June 8 for the next hearing.

On April 8, detectives pressed charges against 35 people, including three sacked Rab officials-Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana and Nur Hossain, now in an Indian jail, in connection with the seven murders.

After the murder of seven people, Selina Islam filed a case against six people while advocate Chandan Sarkar's son-in-law filed another case.

On April 27 in 2014, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in the city.  At the same time, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge's Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.

Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.

The two cases were later filed in connection with the murders.
