Convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP) and former information adviser of the interim government Nahid Islam on Saturday condemned the attempted attack on Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam.
In a status on social media, Mr Islam said: "A tacit consent has been created to humiliate and kill Mr. Mahfuz Alam even within the government and the advisory council. This government and its advisers have used Mr. Alam as they wished and are now pushing him to the brink of death."
Awami League leaders and activists attempted to attack Mr Alam as he was leaving a seminar organised at the School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) campus of the University of London in London.
Mr Islam reacted to the incident on his verified Facebook account on Saturday. He wrote: "There has been an attempt to attack Mahfuz Alam, one of the central leaders of the mass uprising and adviser to the interim government, in London".
He noted that earlier attempts have been made to attack and humiliate him in the United States. Repeated attacks by Awami League fascists show that Alam has become their target, he added.
