Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday the new generation and students of the country are losing interest in politics due to ill-politics being pursued by a few politicians, reports BSS.

"The politics which has been ruining the educational life of children and juveniles putting them at life-risk by resorting to throwing of petrol bombs and torching can't be termed as healthy politics, in any way. The new generation has been losing interest in politics due to ill-politics being practiced by the anti-liberation forces," he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at Motijheel Model School and College ground in the city.

Motijheel Model School and College organised the discussion and prize distribution ceremony marking the 96th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day.

Obaidul Quader, also a member of the ruling Awami League presidium, said: "The anti-liberation forces are active to transform Bangladesh into a Taliban state. They want to usurp state power scaring people but the people of the country under the bold and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are prepared to face their conspiracies."

Calling upon the sincere and meritorious people to pursue politics, the senior Awami League leader said, "If good, honest and efficient people come to pursue politics in large numbers, the wicked persons will be compelled to leave politics and there will be light instead of darkness in the country's political arena."
