GOPALGANJ, July 15 (BSS): Newly appointed Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Abdur Rouf Talukder Friday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
After laying the wreath, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation.
Later, he offered doa seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs who had to embrace martyrdom on the fateful August 15, 1975.
A special prayer was also offered wishing for longevity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The BB Governor also signed the visitors' book at the Tungipara Mausoleum Complex.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Kazi Chaidur Rahman, its Executive Director Sirajul Islam, Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry Walid Hossain, its Deputy Secretary Md Helal Uddin, Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana, Governor's Private Secretary Md Zainul Abedin Bashir, Additional Director (Protocol) of BB Md Rafiqul Islam, its Deputy Director Md. Masudur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj AKM Hedayetul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Nihad Adnan Taiyan, General Manager of Sonali Bank Md. Abdul Quddus, its DGM (in-charge) SM Obaidur Rahman, Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Al Mamun, Vice-President of Tungipara Upazila Awami League Md Elias Hossain, President of Municipal Awami League Sheikh Saiful Islam and other officials of various banks and financial institutions were present, among others.
