JHALAKATHI, June 9 (BSS): Election Commissioner (EC) Brig Gen (retd) Md Zabed Ali said here today the next parliamentary elections would be held as per the constitution.
"The 10th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls were held as per the constitution and the next election would be held in the same manner," he said.
The election commissioner made the remarks while exchanging views with a cross section of people on updating voter list with photographs in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here at noon.
About the January 5 polls, he said the people could say whether the elections were legitimate or illegitimate.
Responding to a question about the electronic voting machine (EVM), Zabed Ali said the EVM is good for getting results of the elections within the quickest possible time.

The election commissioner said it is the responsibility of the EC to prepare a flawless voter list. He sought sincere cooperation of local public representatives to this end.
With DC Md Shakhawat Hossain in the chair, the function was addressed by Superintendent of Police Md Mazid Ali, Poura Mayor Afzal Hossain and Sadar Upazila chairman Sultan Hossain Khan and local Press Club president Chitta Ranjan Dutta.
Meanwhile, at a separate views exchange meeting in Pirojpur, Zabed Ali said a flawless voter list with photographs would be presented to the nation.
