Nine BNP men get 3-year jail in subversion case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced nine leaders and activist of BNP, including Jubo Dal Organising Secretary Ishaq Sarkar and his elder brother Yakub Sarkar, to three-year jail in a case lodged for carrying out subversive activities in 2013, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheq Imam pronounced the judgment in the case filed under speedy trial act. The court also fined them Taka five thousand each.

The other convicts are - Arman, Anwar Hossain Roki, Abdur Razzak Mintu, Rashed, Pervej, Sohel and Nader. Of the nine, Yakub Sarkar was in jail and produced before the court for the judgment.
