Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami has urged all concerned to play their due role from their respective position so that the government could hand over power to an elected government after holding a corruption-free meaningful election, reports UNB.
"The Election Commission (EC) has announced an election roadmap and expressed determination to implement it for holding an accountable and meaningful election with participation of all parties," he said at an emergency meeting of the party's Majlish-e-Shura Friday.
The meeting was held at Al Falah Auditorium in the city in the morning with Jamaat Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami in the chair, ahead of Jamaat-e-Islami's dialogue with the EC on October 25.
Nizami said a certain quarter is campaigning for banning religion-based politics in the country. "Their main target is to ban Islamic politics."
He added, "These groups once banned Islamic politics and after assuming power, they tried again to impose ban on Islamic politics, but they had failed."
Mentioning that Islam is a complete code of life, the Jamaat Ameer said Islam has all the necessary guidelines for conducting politics, economy, education and culture.
"The main target of those who want to ban Islamic politics is not only to ban the politics of Jamaat, but also of Islam," he said, adding that the government should remain alert so that these quarters could not create any controversy about the present non-partisan government.
Calling upon the Islamic scholars to maintain unity among themselves, Nizami said it is the demand of time to maintain worthwhile unity among Alem-Olama and Islamic parties. Without unity, it is not possible to face the conspiracy.
He said the President was forced to declare a state of emergency in the country in the wake of the volatile situation when the general election scheduled for January 22 this year had to be cancelled.
