Awami League (AL) presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Sunday there will be no discussion with BNP on the next parliament election, reports BSS.
"There is no question of dialogue. Election will be held as per the constitution. Why dialogue? We are not duty-bound to hold dialogue as per the constitution," he said.
The health minister also asked BNP to wait until 2019, saying, "There will be no parliament election in the country till the end of the tenure of the present government. You please wait till that day and cooperate with the government."
The senior AL leader came up with the observation while addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) at National Press Club as the chief guest.
Presided over by BSJ president Tarana Halim, MP, the function was also addressed by Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, MP, BSJ general secretary Arun Sarker Rana, BSJ leaders Mobarak Ali Shikder and eminent actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, among others.
Slamming BNP leaders for their criticism over the recent London visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nasim said, ''It has now become a culture for BNP. They are spoiling the reputation of the country through this criticism."
"The British government had extended their invitation to Sheikh Hasina as the elected prime minister of Bangladesh. She was received there maintaining the appropriate protocol," he added.
Food Minister Qamrul Islam said the government will not create any obstacle to BNP movement.
