Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Tuesday that the government would not go for any dialogue with the conspirators of grenade attack on August 21 and attempt on the life of Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.

"No election in the country before five years tenure of the present government," he also said.

The minister said the present government will be in power for next five years and no election and before that time no dialogue or election will be held in the country.

Tofail Ahmed made this remark while addressing at a discussion held at Central Auditorium of Jagannath University (JnU) marking the National Mourning Day.

"Bangabandhu had affection for Begum Khaleda Zia but Khaleda is now cutting cake on the death anniversary of Bangabandhu," he lamented.

Mr Ahmed urged the Chhattra League leaders and activities to follow the ideology of Bangabandhu and devote them in study to be worthy citizen of the country.

JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman, Registrar Prof Dr Selim Bhuiyan, acting proctor Nur Mohammad, former student leader Bahalul Majnun Chunnu, JnU Teachers Association General Secretary Dr Porimal Bala spoke, among others, on the occasion.

UNB adds: Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu alleged Tuesday that the BNP is hatching a conspiracy to make the country a dysfunctional one.

He made the allegation while addressing a discussion titled, 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Life and Bangladesh', in the city.

The Industries Ministry arranged the discussion marking the National Mourning Day at the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation auditorium.

Amu, also a senior Awami League (AL) leader, came down hard on the BNP for celebrating the birthday of its chairperson Khaleda Zia on August 15, a day when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with most of his family members in 1975.

He said, "The August 15 is a day of celebrations for BNP. However, the history would have been different if Bangabandhu was not killed on the day. Neither Ziaur Rahman could become the President nor BNP was born."

The minister said the defeated forces of the Liberation War killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members as part of a conspiracy to turn Bangladesh a new Pakistan.

Industries Secretary Moinuddin Abdullah, Additional Secretary Farhad Uddin and BCIC Chairman Mansur Ali Sikder, among others, spoke at the function.
