No headway in Baniarchar blast probe after 13-yr

No breakthrough in the investigation into Baniarchar blast case of 2001 has yet been made 13 years since the carnage that killed 10 people and injured many others, reports BSS.

"No progress has been made in the investigation into the case," a senior police official familiar with the process told BSS today.

On June 3 in 2001, 10 people were killed and many others wounded in a bomb blast at the Catholic Church at Baniarchar, Muksedpur in Gopalganj.

Two cases-one for murder and another under explosive act - - were lodged with Muksedpur police station in this regard.

Investigation officer (IO) in the case has been changed 12 times in the last 12 years. The investigation agency Criminal Investigation Department (CID) however said "significant progress" has been made in the investigation of the case.

"We have got important information from 18 detained Harkatul Jihad leaders including Mufti Abdul Hannan.
